Who uses Drupal ?

Ever wonder who else uses Drupal ? You may be surprised that a lot of familiar and popular brands, organizations and companies use Drupal.

Even part of Yahoo!, Google and AOL use the Drupal platform.

Communication companies like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, entertainment sites like Warner Brothers, The Emmys, Fox, publication sites like The Onion, New York Observer, television channels like MTV, Discovery Channel, organizations like United Nations, Human Rights Watch, prominent people like Hillary Clinton, Mike Bloomberg and artist sites like Michael Jackson and Britney Spears all have one thing in common: their websites use Drupal.

How To Login Without Clicking on Login

Let's say your accidentally removed your login block from your display pages. So it's nowhere displayed on your drupal pages. If you logout (or get logged out automatically), you won't find your login form anywhere on your site.
If you need to login to your website and don't have a login form, you can access your login via

yourdomain.com/?q=user

Accessing this URL by typing in your domain and then "/?q=user" from your drupal base directory and a login form will automatically appear for you to login.

This is especially useful when you accidentally or purposely hide your login and you need to logon as admin (user #1) to administer and configure your website.

Drupal Help

I discovered this site earlier: http://www.rhinocerus.net/drupal-blogs

Some of the content is kinda outdated (circa 2006 and for 4.7x) but some syndication and user posts are new and updated. They have some pdf resources avaialable for download. It's good for offline reference and as a handbook.

It seems like the subsite has been abandoned and works unmonitored cause when you click on Home, it goes to a discussion board on various programming languages.

New Book: Front End Drupal

I just learned about this book earlier while checking out Amazon.com.  There are a scarcity of Drupal books in the market so when you see a new one, it's a rarity.

And I'd say this book came just at the right time.  I'm having a problem with customizing a design in Drupal and I'd have to say that based on the book's description, this is my saving grace.

The book is written by Emma Jane Hogbin.
You can check out her site at http://www.emmajane.net

I already ordered a copy and I'm excited to get my book.  I'll give a review once the book arrives and I get to read it.

Tip on Customized Pages

Don't make customized pages just to hide a block.  If all you need is to omit or hide a block, use the "Show block on specific pages" feature found at the bottom of every block in the administration pages.  You can include or exclude any page or number of pages (using the wildcard *).

It works best especially if your theme is fluid and you want to take out an entire region by hiding the blocks.
